The Yak Collection
The new Yak footwear is based on well-known and trusted boots from the Hanwag Collection.
The top model LHASA is a modern trekking boot with the patented (pending) Vibram ® AW Integral sole, which ensures both smooth walkingand prevents early fatigue.
The light-trekking boot TINGRI, the casual outdoor boot KHARTA and the hiking models CHAMDO and ZANDA provide extraordinary comfort, great breathability and natural feel.
The whole Yak collection utilises eudermic, chrome free leather lining. This premium leather lining is totally free from allergy inducing chrome-based chemicals.
Chrome free leather is also used for the Canyon II trek-light model, as well as for the Robin, Rottach and Selva trail footwear. All models featuring chromeless leather lining are equipped with anatomical foodbeds also made of chromeless leather.

Why Yak Leather?
Tibetan high altitude leather possesses unique characteristics: thicker skins whilst robust are surprisingly supple. Once in Germany the Yak leather is made water repellent.
Yaks are hardy animals influenced by their 4000 meter high barren landscape. One can see this in the leather: It has a naturally raw texture, which is not so uniform as that of the Alpine cattle usually used by Hanwag. This individual texture gives each boot a unique character, which clearly and proudly points to its place of origin.
